Sean Kilpatrick Named Big East Player of the Week

Sean Kilpatrick was named the Big East Player of the Week after his big week against DePaul and especially his UC Big East record 36 point outing in the win over Marquette. It's the second time this season that SK has been named the conference player of the week. The first time was back in November after the Global Sports Thing in Las Vegas were UC beat Iowa State and Oregon. Kilpatrick followed the honor with 21 points in yesterday's game.

Let's go to the press release from the Big East

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The BIG EAST Conference has named Cincinnati guard Sean Kilpatrick and St. John's forward JaKarr Sampson the winners of the league's weekly men's basketball honors for the week-ending Jan. 20.

Kilpatrick was named BIG EAST Player of the Week after he helped Cincinnati to a pair of league wins. He averaged 27.0 points and 5.0 rebounds as the Bearcats defeated DePaul (75-70) and No. 25 Marquette (71-69 in overtime). He scored a career-high 36 points — the most by a Cincinnati player in BIG EAST history — including the game-winning bucket with 4.3 seconds left in overtime in the win against Marquette. He added 18 points and six rebounds in the win at DePaul. Kilpatrick ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in scoring at 18.3 points per game.

Sampson was tabbed as BIG EAST Rookie of the Week after he averaged 13.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week, helping St. John’s improve to 3-3 in BIG EAST play. He scored 17 points with four rebounds in a 67-63 win against No. 20 Notre Dame and had 10 points and five boards in a 71-62 victory at DePaul. Sampson leads BIG EAST freshmen in both scoring (13.6 ppg) and rebounding (6.6 rpg) this season.

I'm choosing to hold back on the Syracuse post game until tonight. I need more time to think about it. That's one of the perks about writing your own blog, you get to write about anything you want. Just wait until you see what kind of content starts rolling out the next 8 days.
