Deyshawn Bond, Eric Lefeld and Silverberry Mouhon Hit Watch Lists

It’s the middle of July, which means it’s time for a flood of college football watch lists. This July is no exception to the rule. While not a lot of Bearcats have repeated last year’s success of hitting the lists, three Bearcats have been named to lists so far this year.

Center Deyshawn Bond has been played on the Rimington Trophy watch list. This award is for the best center in the nation. Bond is one of 66 up for the honor. Bond is a sophomore who started every game a year ago. It’s a nice honor for the young man.

Eric Lefeld is no stranger to the accolades. Lefeld was a first team All-AAC selection a year ago. That’s put him on the radar of the Outland Trophy. Lefeld is no stranger to this list either, he made it last year. Lefeld is probably the best lineman on the team and has been the last couple of seasons. He’s had a very nice Cincinnati career. The Outland Award goes to the best interior lineman, offensive or defensive.

Rounding out the honors is the Lombardi Award. 123 players were selected for this list, which kind of makes it less special in a way, but one of the 123 was Bearcat Silverberry Mouhon. Mouhon had 9.5 sacks a year ago with 3 additional tackles for loss. Mouhon was named the Bearcats defensive lineman of the year in 2013.

In case you were wondering about the 2013 winners for those awards, Bryan Stork of Florida State took home the Rimington Trophy, while Aaron Donald of Pittsburgh pulled in the Outland and Lombardi.
